VACANCY - Social Development Consultancy – Chief Executive – based in UK
This is a leading international provider of social development consultancy and research services, established in 1999 as a small network of independent consultants and researchers committed to working with government and NGOs to improve the quality and impact of development assistance and the eradication of poverty, global inequality and injustice.
The organisation has expertise in social development, gender, human rights, political science, conflict and peace building and governance with an in-house team of 10 social development specialists and a network of 200 consultants.
As the demand for their services continues to grow internationally, the organisation has decided to expand the organisation’s senior management team by recruiting a Chief Executive to take the organisation into its next decade.
You must have significant experience of social development (and a relevant higher degree - e.g. social anthropology, sociology, political science, human geography, social policy/planning or international development), preferably in the developing world, and of managing in a commercial or social enterprise environment where developing new business is important.

The Rockefeller Foundation (RF) is looking for candidates the role of
Associate Director, Social Development in Africa, based out of Nairobi but working throughout the continent.
The Associate Director, Social Development, Africa’s role is to provide leadership support for initiatives across the social development sector in Africa.
Candidates will need to have had significant experience of providing essential services to poor people in Africa, especially - but not exclusively - in urban areas. They are likely to have worked in sectors such as health, housing, water and sanitation, education and micro-finance, have experience of gender development, and in particular, have a strong understanding of overall service provision.
We are looking for proven international programme managers who are generalists rather than specialists. They will need to be innovative and entrepreurial, and have strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills. They will have robust but flexible leadership skills, be good at convening “thought leaders” and building networks. They will need to have a strong track record of delivering clear and measurable results that have benefited poor communities.
Candidates are likely to have held senior programme management roles with international ngos or other international development agencies, while those with experience of in the private sector would be especially welcome.
